An overview of MMICs made in GaAs and related compounds is given. FETs, PHEMTs, and/or HBTs are used as active components and combined with resistors, capacitors, and inductors to make a wide variety of circuits. Applications are predominately in cell phones, but also extend to any wireless or high frequency need. The business is still relatively small, but firms are now seeing profits after several hard years.
