Basic characteristics of a chemically reactive jet flow, such as the effects of chemical reaction on the development of turbulence have been investigated. The chemical reaction may affect the interfacial stability of the turbulent jet while the turbulence enhances the chemical reaction. The development of the turbulence has been experimentally investigated, using the LIF-PIV technique in this study. In this paper, as an example a simple irreversible chemical reaction, that is, the reaction between the ammonia solution and the acetic acid solution has been selected. This reaction between these solutions is irreversible, with negligible small heat reaction. At first, a behavior of the jet diffusion, that is, the interface stability has been investigated, using images of the mixing dye. The transition position relating to the interface stability has been visualized clearly. This position with the chemical reaction moves more far downstream than that without the chemical one. The interface in the case with the reaction becomes more stable than that without the reaction.
