This study focuses on the management orientation of architects and the communication between architects and their client. The study applies empirical analysis by statistical methods and investigates how these two affect the concrete performance of their design projects. Upon the collection of data, the questionnaire survey was conducted and sent to the total of 105 architects in Kyusyu. Findings are as follows. 1) Management orientation, especially customer orientation, contributes to the design quality of buildings. 2) Place for client meetings and Design tools have distinct roles for each stage of the design process.
