This paper presents a new approach for pulmonary nodules segmentation based on improved dual fast marching method. Firstly, two zero level sets located inside and outside of nodule are initialized. Secondly, energy function and termination condition are established. Eventually, we employ both energy and termination condition to control the evolvement of two level sets. Moreover, a new measure for ascertaining the energy weight coefficients automatically is provided. The validity of the proposed approach is demonstrated on the lung CT image. Experimental results show that the approach not only improve the segmentation quality, but also offer higher robust and more adaptable.
