When the 30th Bohai delegation, Pei Ting and others, visited Kyoto in 883, Sugawara Michizane and his father-in-law, Shimada Tadaomi were on the reception committee. During their stay in Kyoto, the representatives of Japan and Bohai exchanged their Chinese poems, which amounted to 59. After their visit, Michizane compiled them into a volume and named it "Koro Zotoshi". Among the poems, there remain nine poems of Michizane and seven of Tadaomi. The good interpretation of these poems has so far been presented by Kawaguchi Hisao and Kojima Noriyuki, et al., but it has several mistakes or inapproriate comments to it. In this paper, I will indicate the problems of their interpretation and discuss how to interpret the text.
