For the last few decades the concept of Self-Help has become popular, as the alternative of existing helping system by professionals. This does not mean the existing helping system is not effective but means the people in needs can also help themselves when they are in the well organised group. These groups are called self-help groups and play an important part in the network of community resources that could be available for social workers to use in working with clients. This article introduces the researches and the results of a survey conducted to identify the factors that could be valuable to the social workers focusing on the relation between self helpers and professionals. Recommendations are offered for future research on the relationship of these two parts so as to get self-help groups develop desirable activities.
