Braces on Soundboard of a classic guitar have an influence on sound quality. Usually, a design of the guitar soundboard depends on guitar maker's skill and feeling. There are no guidelines for designing bracing pattern. This paper describes a relationship between the bracing patterns, braces size and vibratory and acoustic characteristics of a soundboard in detail numerically. In numerical simulation, a rectangular soundboard model and full-scale soundboard model of an acoustic guitar are used. The following results were obtained: (1) Vibration surface area and radiation power of the soundboard is larger, when the number of the braces on first-string side is more than that on the sixth string side. (2) The distance among the braces have an influence on radiation power of both high note and bass. And, the soundboard with new bracing pattern is proposed and discussed numerically.
