A new form of turn-milling for achieving high levels of efficiency that cannot be obtained in conventional turning has been devised. This is a technique in which the machining is performed while rotating both the tool and the workpiece, and it was shown empirically that it could be applied successfully to difficult-to-cut alloy steel under completely dry conditions. Since this is a very environmentally friendly technique that also enables the machining of alloy steels without normalizing, it can be expected to have positive effects across the whole production field including reductions in the numbers of processes and man hours required.
