Basaltic lava flows are widely distributed throughout the northeast area in Northern Ireland. They form the spectacular Giant's Causeway with hexagonal columns of basalt. And also they form clear geomorphological plane of basalt plateau which is from 80m to 100m above sea level. It is able to recognize that there were a few cycles of the basic volcanic activities which were between about 60Ma and about 55Ma.
