• The studies undertaken on the water relation of I. graveolens seeds and their germination behaviour under different moisture stresses revealed that, as the temperature increases the water uptake also increases. There is a remarkable decrease in the inhibition, with an increase in the osmotic potential of the medium. The germination too is effected, being higher at lower osmotic pressures and high percentage moisture contents.
