The study represents an attempt at elementary demonstrative analysis of the concept of "Rushang (儒商)," which has been attracting note in recent years in connection with a new understanding of Eastern values in the mentality of Chinese business managers. First, it has been learned from literature that the concept of Rushang refers less to a "businessman whose spiritual basis is found in Confucian values" than to a "businessman who likes to learn and is morally minded." According to the findings of a survey on the mindset of the managers of high-tech enterprises, the perceived requirements of the Rushang spirit include "observance of universal rules," an "attitude to humbly learn from superior things both old and new, in the East and the West," and "eagerness for self-actualization." It has been shown that these characteristics of the Rushang spirit may manifest themselves in the process of actual business management in managers' behavior: absorbing advanced technology, management techniques and administrative systems from other countries, and using traditional Chinese wisdom pertaining to human psychology and social governance for the formulation of competitive strategies and the exercise of leadership.
