The design and implementation of a suitable financial strategy-planning guidelines, the framework of policies and procedures for managing the finance of the organization contributes to the successful growth and development of a multinational enterprise. For many enterprises, foreign operations are still relatively new, and financial management is often more dependent on a patchwork of ad hoc decisions accumulated over time to guide it, than on comprehensive strategy. Financial decisions are greatly influenced by various legal and fiscal constrains, business practices and often characteristics of the environment in which the firm operates. In such circumstances, management response is liable to different expression. However, management attitudes are changed by experience of foreign operations and as they adapt new conditions in the environment. In this study, we examine some of the key variables which, in the way they influence financial decisions in multinational enterprises, eventually become the determinants of a financial strategy. A financial strategy might evolve through various stages in the growth and development of a subsidiary. In particular planning guidelines for capital structures and for remittances that would be appropriate at each stage are suggested. While it is recognised that the variable, the problems faced, and their possible solutions are too numerous and complex for them to be condensed into a handful of generalizations. But in this study, we may lead to a better understanding of the issues involved and provide a conceptual framework for improving decision-making in this area.
