Sumitomo Corporation has been involved in various CDM-Clean Development Mechanism-Projects, which are conducted between Developed countries and Developing countries to reduce Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emission. In accordance with Article 12 of Kyoto Protocol, which was agreed in 1997 and became effective February 2005, Developed countries can use such reduction of GHG in achieving their obligations or compliance. Among the projects, Indian COM project at chemical plant was registered at COM Executive Board of UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) in March 2005 as the first project where a Japanese participant takes part in. Our experience and outline of the Project are summarized below.
