The utilization of waste/biomass fuels is now highlighted from the view of reduction of CO_2 emission and thermal recycle of the waste. IHI developed Waste Fuel Fired Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) Boiler to utilize such fuel and delivered 260t/h boiler, firing mainly RPF (Refuse Paper & Plastics Fuel), with high steam temperature 569 deg.C. IHI's CFB is specially designed to meet wide range of fuel kind, including various waste. In order to apply 569 deg.C, the highest class steam temperature among waste firing boilers operated., careful consideration was paid to avoid high temperature erosion on metal selection of superheater and configuration to reduce erosion environment in external heat exchanger where the high steam temperature is located. Through the commissioning, its performance was confirmed as planned and commercial operation was started from April 2004.
