1. In this paper, I have asserted that the ecogenetics (ecological genetics) should be established as a new branch of genetics. 2. My subject matter of study is "polyploid," and the following species growing in Miura peninsula are selected as the materials of my investigations: Chrysanthemum Makinoi (2n=18), Ch. Morifolium (2n=53-63), and Ch. pacificum (2n=90). Of these species, Ch. pacificum, the highest natural polyploid in the range of the genus, is the most important material for me. 3. I have attempted to pursue some analysis concerning relations between the polyploid and the coastal ecological conditions. Thus the environmental (geographical, geological, pedological, and climatological conditions), biotic and distributional condisions of the Chrysanthemum are investigated by me. Moreover, the morphological and variational conditions are also studied by me. Thus I have acknowledged the great adaptability and the variability of Ch. pacificum. 4. The decaploid is so fertile and vigorous that it should be regarded as an "advanced species," which is still transforming from autopolyploid into allopolyploid on account of the geographical isolation and the durable natural salt-spray.
