In general, the control characteristics of an amplifier with Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) is affected by the supply voltage variation. Therefore, the variation is harmful to the normal performance of SCR amphfier operation in a system. This paper presents a new firing circuit for SCR which compensates the supply voltage variation, and describes the experimental results getting by this method. The circuit is composed of rectangular hysterisis loop cores and diodes or transistors, and controlled by magnetic amplifier. By the experiment described above, it is shown that the fluctuation of the control characteristics of SCR amplifier is only about 0.5% for a supply voltage variation of ± 20%.
