During 1994-2003, Sagami-Bay Marine Biological Research Club and Yokosuka City Museum made a joint research on the fish fauna of Hasama, Tateyama City Boso Peninsula, Japan, based on samplings and underwater photographs and observations by both snorkeling and SCUBA. There are totally 413 species belonging to 102 families of 21 orders recorded from the coast of Hasama. The specimens were deposited in Yokosuka City Museum (YCM-P) and the underwater photographs were registered with the Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Natural History (KPM-NR). The species were separated into 6 categories based on the habitats and water temperature according to Nakabo (2002) and resulted in the followings: subarctic-water species (0.5% of 404 species), temperate-water species with cold water origins (11.6%), temperate-water species (14.1%), temperate-water species with warm water origins (15.6%), temperate to subtropical-water species (13.9%), and subtropical-water species (44.3%). The frequency was not different from that of the fish fauna of Tenjin-jima and Tanoura.
