Before modern communication systems were developed, the most important communication system in Korea for the military purpose was the beacon house system. When we construct the beacon houses, the key design problem is to determine the places where we build beacon houses. In this article, we propose a simple mathematical model for the design problem and give a simple solution. A numerical example is also studied.
