This paper presents the new training cases selection method of neural networks suitable to the pattern recognition of critical fault clearing time function Y(X)(X: relative load common to power system, Y: critical fault clearing time). This method have applied to a model power system and results of application have clarified that it can improve the test error characteristics of neural networks. In case of that very high accuracy is not required, neural networks can recognize patterns of these functions in various situations by the smaller number of simulation times than that of the exhaustive method.
