We proposed a new trilayer structure of Fe(001)/Pt(001)/Cr(002) for the perpendicular magnetic recording medium. With this trilayer structure and adequate selection of each layer thickness, the onset temperature of phase ordering to develop L1_0 γ_1 FePt(001) ordered phase can be below 300℃. And the out-of-plane squareness of the FePt magnetic layer can be close to one. In this presentation, the process leading to the phase ordering is discussed in detail.
