Cliopsis krohnii was first reported in 1854 by Troschel. This species occurs in temperate to tropical waters worldwide. The present report is apparently the first confirmation of Cliopsis krohnii in the Sea of Okhotsk. The gymnosome body usually consists of a well-defined head separated from the trunk by a narrow neck area. C. krohnii also has the same characteristics, but its head is small in contrast to that of related species such as Clione limacina. The measuvement of Cliopsis krohnii are 50.0mm in total length and 10.4mm in wing length. The wing is located 1/5 of the way down on the body length. The skin is jelly-like and resilient. It has a small pair of anterior tentacles. The lateral foot lobes are large and protruding. The anus is located under the wing on the left side. The body is barrel shaped. The tail tip is rounded and wavelike. Swimming velocity is about 1cm or less per second on the basis of my observations following Lalli & Gilmer (1989).
