In this report, an analytical method is presented for the synthesis of the slider-crank mechanism to generate approximately a desired function over a finite range by its functional relationship between the input angle and the output dispiacement. This method produces such a function generator that the higher order derivatives g^(k)_i(k=0-m_i) of the generated function at precision points x_i(i=1-n) coincide with the ones of the desired function. Where 1m_i=5-n. The numerical procedure for determining the five design parameters is established in such a concise form that consists in solving two systems of five linear equations and a cubic equation. Moreover, a six point sythesis method is presented for the symmetrical function generation and a respacing method of precision points is developed for reducing the stiuctural error of the mechanism designed by using this method.
