For effective display and transmission of visual images, understanding visual information processing mechanisms in the brain is very important. Using both eyes, human can receive visual information over a range as wide as about 200 degrees. Visual acuity in the retinal peripheral region is inferior to that in the central region, requiring that we make use of the eye movement system to allow the fovea to capture the information. It is necessary to control an eye movement correctly so as not to miss important information to survive. Therefore eye movement is considered to reflect human visual information processing mechanisms in the brain. Here, the basic characteristics of oculomotor and its measurement method are discussed and the latest eye movement studies are introduced.
