To investigate the effects of pressure on ignition and combustion for homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) engine fueled by methane/DME (dimethyl ether) mixture, a series of bench tests and combustion simulations with constant pressure were conducted. Findings from the result are showing as follows: Engine can run over a wide load range if the compression ratio of the engine were changed according to avoiding of misfire or rapid combustion. Higher pressure enhances the progress of low temperature oxidation subsequently advances the start of high temperature oxidation. The peak of heat release rate of high temperature oxidation is not affected by pressure.
