• Corporate governance patterns are institutional systems that firms build to reduce complexity and uncertainty in the environment under certain social conditions. Through studying a formation mechanism of governance patterns among enterprise groups in China and Japan, this paper clarifies the governance problems of Chinese enterprise groups and suggests possibilities to solve these problems.
