Helical compression mechanism is newly developed one that can compress gas by using helical component. This mechanism was designed in 1987, and compressor was manufactured for refrigerator first in the world in 2000. This mechanism consists of three main parts, helical blade, roller, cylinder. As helical shape has uneven pitch, the volume of each chamber becomes smaller according to the revolution, and the gas is transferred and compressed continuously. Most important component is helical blade that moves under pressure. Helical blade is made of elastic resin, because it has to transform during its movement into and out of helical groove. This study has the object to establish the reliability of Helical compressor by estimating the stress and surface pressure of helical blade, and to seek for the best material for this component. And this study shows the recommended material can meet its demand by table test and actual compressor drive, while its material is used in condition less than fatigue strength.
