Abstract　A method is presented for solving free vibrations of conical shells with thick wall. Under the assumptions that displacements are the cubic expressions of thickness and that the stress-strain relation is the three dimensional Hooke's law, new equations of vibration and boundary conditions are introduced from the stational condition of the Lagrangian of a conical shell. A way to solve these equations is explained and frequencies for various boundary conditions are shown.
