Five new withanolides named plantagiolides A-E (1, 3-6), together with a known withanolide glucoside, chantriolide A (2) were isolated from the whole plants of Tacca plantaginea (HANCE). Their structures were elucidated by means of spectroscopic methods including extensive ID and 2D-NMR techniques.
