Storm-water infiltration systems provide a variety of favorable effects in terms of both the flood control policy and environmental protection. However, storm-water infiltration facilities are not given a clear position in the flood control or environmental protection program. Japan Institute of Wastewater Engineering Technology and author aims at establishing a method of assessing the effects of storm-water infiltration facilities, in an effort to clarify the effects gained by installation of storm-water infiltration systems and to give a clear position in the flood control or environmental protection program. This paper discusses and reports the following activities: Authors have received the data on installation records of storm-water infiltration systems and secular changes from seven public corporations engaged in storm-water infiltration projects in Japan were collected and investigated. A quantitative assessment technique for the effects of storm-water infiltration systems in conformity to regional characteristics will be established, and a clear position to the storm-water infiltration systems in the flood control or environmental protection program will be given.
