There are frequent occasions in a greenhouse when it becomes necessary to discharge excess heat on a sunny winter day, yet keep the interior temperature at an optimal level when it becomes colder outside. In this report, one possibility is presented: a greenhouse with an underground heat exchange system can utilize this excess heat. This study tests the heat transfer between the ducts and soil, and between the soil surface and the air. The tow different duct materials were used. The ground surface was flat in some test areas and formed in ridges and furrow. The testing was conducted without plants in the greenhouse.
