The demonstration experiment is a powerful tool when introduced in the lecture to assist students for comprehensive understanding of abstract physical concepts that appear in electricity and magnetism. Simple experimental devices have been designed and constructed for lecture demonstrations. An electrostatic pendulum is adopted for understanding physical concept of electrostatic force and the difference between gravitational and electrostatic forces. A coin-toss experiment is for that of electromagnetic force between a coil energized with a pulsed electric current and the eddy current in an aluminum coin on the top of the coil. The effectiveness of the lecture demonstration and reactions from the students are also presented.
