Trial production panels for automobiles are generally formed using zinc alloy dies. The conventional method involves copying from a cutting model, but this takes up considerable time. The authors have thus developed and applied a direct casting method which does not require the use of copying process. Still there is a need to prepare the cutting model with this method and this step must be eliminated in order to further reduce the production time. In the recent years, studies are enthusiastically being performed on the incremental forming method as a means to produce sheet panels without using press die. In this study, the authors have investigated and attempted a new method to produce press dies which uses incremental formed panels and combines the direct casting method, and the reduction of production time were achieved.
