• The effect of maleic hydrazide on the lasting of cut flower was studied. When the MH was absorbed through the cut end of the stem, 0.075 per cent or 0.06 per cent was usuable to prolong the life of California-popies. For gladioli 0.06 per cent was effective. Rose buds were prevented to open petals when sprayed with 0.1 per cent solution of MH. The results with sweet peas and centaureas were precarious. The high concentration of MH injured petals and leaves. MH treatment seems to have a possibility to prolong the cut flower life, if a precaution were paid on the concentration and the stage of cut flower.
