• 1. Naval Reserve officers desired enlistment in the Navy because they greatly disliked the Army; 2. After enlistment, Naval Reserve officers received worse treatment than the regular officers from the Naval Academy; 3. Therefore, some Naval Reserve officers progressively came to greatly dislike the Navy; 4. The cause of the harsh treatment of Naval Reserve officers stemmed from the fact that they drilled together in the same units with regular midshipmen from the Naval Academy.
