Linear and nonlinear filters for interlaced-to-progressive conversion are discussed and their performance is evaluated. Both motion compensated and non-compensated methods are examined in terms of complexity and resulting image quality. In this paper, we propose a modified nonlinear filter. Computer simulation shows that it is more effective in the sense of the quality of the resulting images.
