This paper proposes a scheme to extend the IEEE802.16 [1] Point-to-Multi-Point (PMP) system to multihop system. The proposed system enables communication between base station (BS) and subscriber station (SS) via relay station (RS). In the scheme, both data and control messages are exchanged in multihop manner. The scheme realizes 2-hop communication without any changes in the current SSs.
