SELENE is the first large-scale lunar observatory satellite of JAXA to be launched in 2007. The major objectives are to obtain scientific data about lunar origin and evolution and to verify new key technologies of the observatory satellite. SELENE consists of the Main Orbiter at 100 km altitude, Relay Satellite and VLBI Radio Satellite on polar orbit and will be operated for about one year. The Main Orbiter carries 12 instruments to achieve the global mapping of the lunar surface, magnetic field and gravity field together with the instruments on the Relay Satellite and VLBI Radio Satellite. This paper describes the integrated mission operation concept and the corresponding ground system architecture.
