This paper animed to clarify the need for seaweed, especially the youths' need for seaweed. The statistics of Japanese peoples' habit of eating seaweed were used to clarify the need for seaweed and survey was conducted on 362 university students. The results were as follows : 1 Japanese people have eaten seaweed since the ancient times. 2 Many kinds of seaweed were nutritious and good for health. 3 The youths ate seaweed less than older people. 4 The frequency of university students' eating seaweed was influenced by the balance of nutrition, what kind of house they lived, whether they like seaweed or not, whether they ate meals regularly or not, experiences of cooking seaweed, knowledge of nutrition of seaweed and sex.
