• It is well known that Weierstrass points on compact Riemann surfaces play important roles in studying the properties of Riemann surfaces. For instances, hyperellipticity of Riemann surfaces may be characterized by means of the number of the Weierstrass points (Theorem 5). The finiteness of the automorphism group of any compact Riemann surface can also be proved by using the properties of the Weierstrass points (Theorem 6). In this note we summarize some fundamental properties of Weierstrass points on compact Riemann surfaces and give some concrete examples.
