The purpose of this research paper was to collect and organize the models of the systems and the processes of human communication in order : (1) to observe the facts of human communication disclosed by recent scientific investigation, (2) to predict all possible factors or variables affecting successful human communication, (3) to study and predict the relationship among those variables, (4) to gather the vastly complex and varied facts of human communication in one manageable perspective, and also hopefully (5) to find the ways to improve our communicative competence, methods of foreign language teaching, those of speech and language therapy, and the possibility of successful intra- and intercultural communication. This is the continuation (Part 2) of the first paper which appeared in the last issue (Vol. 26, 1977) of this Bulletin. Models of more or less basic systems and processes were included in the last paper. In this, the models of linguistic structures of language, and those related to so called semantic and effectiveness problems of communication are emphasized. The large numbers of the models and the wide varieties of model types used to represent the respective systems and processes of human communication are indicative of the intricate complexity of the facts of human communication, and also the need for a unified and interdisciplinary approach both in the scope and the methods for the scientific study of human communication. The models of speech sounds will be published as the Third Part of our study in the next issue.
