As a part of systematic studies of Asian Aconitum (Ranunculaceae), Taiwanese species are taxonomically revised. As the result the following three species are recognized and illustrated: A. kojimae Ohwi ex Tamura, A. fukutomei Hayata and A. formosanum Tamura. The chromosome numbers of 2n=32 are reported for A. kojimae and A. formosanum for the first time. In the northern high mountains a considerable number of hybrids derived from the natural hybridization between A. fukutomei and A. kojimae were found, however, plants ascribed to A. kojimae were never reported in this area. This fact suggests that the hybridization had occurred in the past and that A. kojimae had become extinct in the area.
