Since 1998, Korean President Dea-Jung Kim administration has been realizing Japanese culture liberalizing policy on the contrary to former Korean Presidencies. Especially, about Japanese popular music (J-pop), its acceptance by Korean liteners has been controversial recently. In August 2000, Japanese popular music artist unit, so-called "Chage and Aska" held successfully their live concert at Olympic pavilion in Seoul for the first time in her history. In addition to this, toward World Cup Football Games Korea/Japan 2002, its campaign song has been coproducing by both sides. After some discussions on Cultural Industry Promotion Fundamental Act 1998 in Korea, recent development of Japanese Culture Liberalizing Policy is summarized related to popular music. Including informations and data which were obtained by interviewing to the staffs from Korean Department of Culture and Tourism as well as from some record companies in Japan, future view of J-pop penetration to Korean market is provided over the appropriate preparation.
