AC losses of non-inductively wound Bi-2223 Ag-sheathed superconducting tape have been investigated by means of ac-transport current and ac-magnetization techniques. AC losses were measured by two methods, usual electrical 4-probe method and calorimetric method or liquid nitrogen evaporation measurement method. It was shown that ac losses increased proportionally to the approximate square of ac magnetic field and increased proportionally to frequency. So, it is suggested that magnetic hysteresis loss of superconducting filaments is dominant and eddy current loss in silver-sheath is negligible small even at high frequency of 1kHz.
