There are many pidgins and creoles around the world. Norfolk language (Norfolkese Creole English) is spoken by descendants of pitcairners, one-third of the population on Norfolk Island. Previous descriptions have not been entirely satisfactory in showing how Norfolk language functions from the perspective of language and society. The aim of the paper is to show the relationship between language and culture, language and disadvantage, Pitcairn descents and language attitude, and Austronesian elements and Norfolk language. Also, the possibility in the study of regional and social varieties can be examined. It is hoped that by means of this paper readers will clearly grasp the problems of Norfolk language and appreciate and encourage this variety.
