The objective of this study was to examine the effect of carbohydrate ingestion during prolonged aerobic exercise on diet induced thermogenesis by measuring thermogenesis on the tympanum at the time of exercise and at the time of resting. For this purpose, we selected 16 female college students who were in good physical condition but did not have specific physical exercise in their daily lives. The subjects were loaded on two hour aerobic exercise (50%V.O_2max) with two times ingestion of carbohydrates (0.26g/kg/W of uruchi rice plus 0.03g/kg/W of resistant starch) immediately before and 60 minutes after the beginning of the exercise. The finding here was that DIT was maintained high during the aerobic exercise within two hours.
