In this paper, compressed Japanese Cedar, Japanese Cedar and Japanese beech were sliced to make veneers, laminated and bonded, and test pieces of curved LVL were made in order to investigate the bending strength of them. The findings of the experiment are described below. 1)The bending strength of the curved LVL using the compressed Japanese Cedar veneer was equivalent to that of the single laminated wood of Japanese beech veneer only in all the laminations. 2)In order to reduce both the weight of LVL and the production cost, the Japanese Cedar was used as the center layer of the LVL. No breakage as a result, was observed in this portion and the strength was as same as that of the LVL of the compressed Japanese Cedar veneer only.
