In this paper I clarify the unsteady aerodynamic characteristics of the transonic compressor cascade, especially the effect of shock wave movement on the cascade flutter characteristics. I constructed the unsteady pressure measuring system and a high-speed photographing system. Using these systems, experiments are performed in the case that only one blade is forced to vibrate in pitching oscillation mode in three kinds of flow speed regions (incompressible flow region, subsonic flow region and transonic flow region). Finally, I analyzed the flutter characteristics using a one-blade oscillation method in three flow regions. Furthermore, I clarify that shock wave plays an important role in the unsteady aerodynamic characteristics of transonic cascade.
