SHIBUSAWA Eiichi, who has been called the great leader of the Japan's industrialization, is also considered as the first promoter of the principles of Japanese Economy, as laid down in his famous works "the Analects of Confucius and the abacus". Why had he been so particular about "the Analects of Confucius"? How could he unite ideas from the Chinese classics with the economy? In this paper, the writer will attach great importance both to his younger days to analyze what he had learned and experienced, and especially to his encounter with "the Analects of Confucius". From that the writer will try to discover the source of his interpretation of "the Analects of Confucius" during his later days.
