Effects of Fermi Motion on Diffractive Leptoproduction of Heavy Quarkonium

We study the diffractive leptoproduction of the heavy quarkonium off the nucleon with a special emphasis on the Fermi motion effects (FME). Taking into account the non-relativistic structure of the heavy quarkonium, we calculate the leading and subleading contributions to the cross section in powers of the quark velocity v. Contrary to the previous works where the huge suppression of the cross section due to FME is reported, we find rather moderate suppression in agreement with the experimental data. We discuss the importance of the systematic construction of the non-relativistic wave function to incorporate the O (v) contributions.
