• The purpose of this article is to analyze Sato Eisaku's external perspectives and his cabinet's Asian policies. Sato was concerned over a new relationship between Japan and Asia. Before becoming Prime Minister, Sato's Asian perspectives were idealistic, but as Premier, he sought for pragmatic Asian policies : namely, Pro-American, moderately Anti-Communist, and economy-oriented ones. In general, his cabinet's Asian policies took secondary importance. During Sato's premiership, his cabinet realized several Asian policies and set a new vision, but his Asian policies remained unresolved.
